Offshore Medivac team training (OMTT)

Training Overview

The OMTT program is designed to provide emergency response training specific for medical personnel transporting patients from offshore vessels and platforms to shore base emergency medical services.

Whether landing on the helideck of a ship or offshore platform this course will introduce you to emergency response procedures and equipment and provide you with knowledge of helicopter ditching, vessel abandonment and survival techniques. Discussions and practical exercises are designed around unique problems associated with casualty management during an offshore emergency and casualty transfers to and from: survival craft; rescue craft; and helicopters.

The Helicopter Underwater Emergency Breathing Apparatus (HUEBA) is an integral component of offshore safety training in Canada and is included in the program.

Training Duration & Timings

Approximately 16 hours of training completed over two (2) training day sessions.

Classes run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (time can be altered if necessary). Trainees absent from any component of the program will not be issued a certification until they have completed all requirements.


Training Certification

Upon successful completion of all training components, in accordance with the Training Standard, trainees will receive a Survival Systems Limited certificate that is valid for three (3) years and a laminated picture identification card. The certificate indicates “Offshore Medivac Team Training”.
